Mark Calcavecchia, a 26-year PGA Tour veteran, has long been considered an average Joe. He proved the label fit last week. After a spotty putting performance at the Honda Classic, Calcavecchia did what a lot of other weekend golfers have done. He walked into an Edwin Watts store in West Palm Beach, Fla., and practiced with a varied assortment of putters until he found one that suited him. He then paid $256.18 for a Redwood Anser putter from Ping -- one that he could have had for free from the company. Story In the late 1980s, PODS Championship winner Mark Calcavecchia was at the top of his game. He was so good, in fact, that some competitors started to complain about his equipment.
